The central systems behind (((eTicket Germany

The VDV eTicket Service provides the central systems for (((eTicket Germany. Five systems are currently in operation:

  1. the ASM tool
  2. the central switching centre (ZVM)
  3. the control and revocation list service (KOSE)
  4. the clearing system
  5. the interoperable network (ION)

The central systems of (((eTicket Germany

ASM, ZVM, KOSE and Clearing in a nutshell.

Interoperable network

The interoperable network (ION) is required so that messages can be communicated throughout Germany between the (((eTicket Germany participants and the other central systems of (((eTicket Germany. The data that the connected companies exchange is encrypted end-to-end.

The central switching centre

The Central Switching Centre (ZVM) is operated to ensure that the data within the ION reaches the correct addressee. The ZVM mediates technical messages between all participants in (((eTicket Germany. For example, in the event of an electronic check, the municipal bus company is informed that its customer is currently using the S-Bahn with their eTicket. Or the Cologne transport company receives the message that the customer is using their eTicket in Berlin and can thus prepare the billing.

The control and blacklist service

If a ticket is stolen or lost, the ticket will be blocked immediately upon notification. The Control and Blocking List Service (KOSE) accepts such blocking and unblocking requests. The current blocking lists are created from these and forwarded to all companies involved in (((eTicket Germany. This means that the validity of the eTicket can be checked immediately on all checking devices and terminals.

Clearing

Clearing ensures that services from other fare regions can be settled between the participating transport companies or transport associations. First there is product clearing (determining the correct fares and prices for the customer's travel chains) and then receivables clearing begins (calculating the distribution of revenue among the participating companies).

You can find out more about our clearing here.
